Comcast and Ipod are entering the battle for the hi-definition market with new products and services that will threaten the blue ray. Comcast has developed technology that will bring large amounts of data such as HD movies through super bandwidth connections at very high speeds.
Ipod has entered the battle with the Ipod X-dock. This device allows one to hook up their ipod to their tv and stereo to play video files through high def and play music files through hi def audio.

In this new market for high definition I would personally opt out on the blue ray player to wait for the new digital services brought by comcast and verizon. I would also buy the Ipod X-doc before a blue ray player.
